Queens Gate, London

A privately owned apartment in an Edwardian block of flats in Queen's Gate, London has undergone a tiling refurbishment in the kitchen and main en-suite area. The fermacoustic system from Weber was specified for the kitchen and master en-suite bathroom in conjunction with a range of weber wall and floor tile adhesives for the application of the porcelain tiles.

weber.sys acoustic is a high performance under-layment system designed specifically to reduce impact and flanking noise transmission through tiled floors. It is a complete solution for the insulation of floors which satisfies the requirements of the Building Regulations 2000, Part E - Resistance to the passage of sound (2003). It includes a sound absorbing underlay that has a waterproof surface, and edge and joint tape to eliminate other potential routes for noise/vibration to be transmitted into the building structure.

In this instance the system was installed on the floor in the kitchen and en-suite bathroom to eliminate the potentially high level of noise that the porcelain tiled floors would generate in these key areas within the apartment. It has a user friendly nature being quick to install in large areas and easy to cut, the under-tile system is only approximately 10mm in depth and it provides a noise reduction of 17dB.
